Cards receive commitment from 2012 big man…sorta

IMG Academy’s Mangok Mathiang has committed to Louisville. Well, kind of. Actually, he did, but it’s not official, or something like that. Here’s what we know. IMG Academy tweeted this Monday:

Another IMG big man commits: 6-10 F/C Mangok Mathiang inks with #Louisville @ReggieRankin @DaveTelep

Then later on, they tweeted a picture of Mathiang apparently signing with the Cards:

So the Cards have added another player from the 2012 class right? Not exactly. This addition has yet to be confirmed by anyone other than IMG Academy. Details are still a bit sketchy at this point, but I would guess it has something to do with transcripts and making sure Mathiang would be eligible.

By all accounts, if he’s eligible, he’s on the team. If he’s not, he’s not.

This is an odd situation to say the least and one we’ll definitely follow closely. Right now, all we know for sure if the Cards have a potential/likely addition for their 2012 squad…we think
