Four-star power forward Montrezl Harrell has eliminated Kentucky from his list of potential destinations and will decide between Louisville, Florida, Alabama, and Cincinnati. Harrell, previously a Virginia Tech signee, chose to look elsewhere following Seth Greenberg’s dismissal as Hokies coach. The 6-8, 235-lb prospect will visit UofL very soon and has a previous connection to current Louisville assistant Kevin Keatts as Harrell played last year at Hargrave Military Academy. Things continue to look extremely good for the Cards in this deal.
With that said, if Harrell were to join the UofL team, there is the issue of scholarships. We don’t know for sure how it will be worked out, but on the surface, it appears someone currently on scholarship would have to give it up. I will not begin to speculate on who that would be because it would be nothing more than pure speculation, but I will remind you these situations always work themselves out.
The bottom line is, Montrezl Harrell fills a need for Louisville in terms of frontcourt depth. If he wants to be a Cardinal, he will have a spot. We’ll obviously continue to follow this situation.
