Rick Pitino landed his point guard.
He needed to nab a point guard in this recruiting class and he got him. Today, junior college point guard Chris Jones publicly committed to the Cards following his official visit this weekend. Jones, originally a signee of Tennessee along with current UofL guard Kevin Ware, comes from Northwest Florida State where he played for former UT assistant Steve Forbes. The 5-10 Jones was a top 50 prospect coming out of high school. He joins Terry Rozier and Anton Gill has commitments in Louisville’s 2013 class.
No BS here, this is a huge pick-up for the Cards.
Chris Jones not only fills a big need for them at the point guard spot in 2013, but he is an impact addition. Jones is ready to play and in terms of comparing him to other point guards coming out of the 2013 class, he stacks right up with, if not ahead of the top guys. Over the past few weeks, the chatter from the UofL side of things seemed to indicate they favored Jones over other top targets like Anthony Barber and Demetrius Jackson, and with the news of Jones committing, I imagine the basketball offices on Floyd Street are pretty happy right now.
