Rozier fails to qualify, heading to Hargrave

The UofL staff was hopeful as the summer began. But as the warm weather hit, the optimism faded and today we received confirmation: Terry Rozier failed to qualify and is headed to prep school. Rozier, a longtime Louisville commit deemed by many to be a perfect fit in Rick Pitino’s system, will spend this year at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. Rozier says he remains fully committed to the Cards.
Hargrave is not foreign to Louisville, or it’s fans. Current assistant coach Kevin Keatts came to UofL from Hargrave, where he was head coach from 1999-2001, and again from 2003-11. In addition, current Louisville commitment Anton Gill, a four-star recruit in the 2013 class, will be attending Hargrave for his final year before hitting UofL. Even with Rozier saying he is still committed to Louisville, there is some doubt as to whether or not he will ever play for the Cards.
Rick Pitino is in hot pursuit of a point guard in the 2013 class with Anthony Barber and Demetrius Jackson topping the list. Also, the UofL staff is now checking out JUCO point guard Chris Jones, originally a Tennessee commitment a few years back. With Pitino definitely going after a point guard from the ’13 class, it makes you think if they are prepping for moving on away from Terry Rozier.
Oh, and let’s not forget, Quentin Snider is coming in 2014, one of the elite players in that class.
Having said all that, as I mentioned earlier, many recruiting analysts identify Rozier as a perfect fit for Pitino’s system. Could Rick possibly play Rozier at the ‘two’ guard? Anything’s possible I guess, but I personally wouldn’t bet on it. It’s all speculation right now.
There are only two things I know for sure, Hargrave Academy is going to be real good this year and Rick Pitino wants a point guard in the 2013 class. From the way it looks at this point, I would say he’s going to get one.
