Charlie Strong landed a pair of commitments Wednesday night and both come from where else, the Sunshine state. Free safety Terrence Ross (Apopka, Florida) chose the Cards without having visited Louisville, but cited a belief in Charlie Strong as a coach as a reason why he pledged for UofL. Ross, 6-2 and 190 lbs, chose Louisville over offers from Cincinnati, West Virginia, and North Carolina State.
A few hours after Ross announced his decision, offensive tackle Shamar Johnson also pulled the trigger for Louisville. The 6-6, 295-lb. Johnson started his high school career at tight end, but made the switch to tackle after a growth spurt. He’s reportedly extremely athletic, has good feet, and known as a good pass protecter. Johnson only had offers from UofL and Florida International, but was receiving interest from schools such as Florida and Alabama.
Here’s Louisville’s updated commit list:
QB Kyle Bolin
CB Ryan White
DE Jacarthy Mack
S Donel Elam
TE Keith Towbridge
S Terrence Ross
OT Shamar Johnson
