Terrence Williams Signs (sorta) with the Detroit Pistons

Earlier this week, former first round draft pick and U of L standout, Terrence Williams signed a minimum, no guarantee contract with the Detroit Pistons. Basically this gives Williams the chance to impress the coaches and make the team for the 2012-2013 season.

Although, only averaging 8.4 points per game in his career, I think we all know how explosive he can be. His combination of athleticism and smarts (on a basketball court) makes for a scary combination. If Williams can just stay out of trouble, unlike he did in New Jersey, he could compliment an already young and talented Pistons team.

I remember back to his senior year when we played Connecticut at home. Hasheem Thabeet was playing for UCONN at the time and it was a matchup of two top ranked teams. We all expected Earl Clark to be the stand out and there were about 20 different NBA GM’s in Freedom Hall that night. We ended up getting slaughtered because we couldn’t take the ball into the paint, but Williams took over the game at the end and couldn’t miss. It is the games like that, that make me look at him and say that he go as far as he wants, as long as he keeps his head on straight.
