If you were looking forward to a Cardinal standout in the NFL this week, you should look no further than Kerry Rhodes of the Arizona Cardinals and Elvis Dumervil of the Denver Broncos.

Kerry Rhodes recorded two tackles and broke up 2 key passes. Also in overtime he intercepted Dolphins quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, and gave Arizona great field position to kick the game winning field goal. His play propelled the surprising Cardinals to a 4-0 start. His partner in crime, William Gay, also recorded 2 solo tackles for Arizona.

Elvis Dumervil boasted 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in Sundays demolishing of the Oakland Raiders. Dumervil hasn’t had a really stand out game since his injury, so this kind of game is reason to be optimistic for the Broncos defensive end. He also recored 2 solo sacks.

Other than those two, it was a sub-par weekend for the Louisville Alumni. Deion Branch didn’t catch a pass all game long and Harry Douglas only caught one. Our running back duo, of Bilal Powell and Michael Bush, only combined for 40 yards rushing.

David Akers had an off day as well, missing 2 out of 4 field goals. One of the missed field goals has been a hot topic around the league with people debating whether it actually was good or not. Regardless the 49er’s demolished the seemingly dejected Jets, 34-0.

Breno Giacomini also had an impact on the Seahawks v. Rams game this weekend, but not exactly in a good way (Unless you happen to be a Rams fan). Giacomini had a couple personal fouls called on him that cost the Seahawks first downs and momentum. Pete Carroll is backing him though, saying that he is a max effort type player and that he just needs to control himself better. Giacomini agrees with Carroll saying “I’ve just got to play smarter,Marshawn is a back that doesn’t stop so I’m not going to stop until he stops. I’ve just got to gauge it a little bit better. Those are my penalties so it’s my fault, but I’m not going to stop playing the way that I’m playing just because of the backs we have, but I’ve got to play smarter.”

Another interesting thing this weekend was Johnny Patrick made 1 tackle for the Saints…that just happened to be on former Kentucky standout, Randall Cobb.
